New African Union Flag

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia –  The African Union unveiled its new flag on 31st January, 2010 at its 14th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government taking place in Addis Ababa. The new flag was hoisted by the current chairperson of the African Union, the leader of the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Jamahiriya.

The press release which was published on the organization’s official website, descriped the new green-filled flag as a “symbol for the hope of Africa” and the stars on the flag as “Member States.”
